You have noticed your camper cover has some age to it and developed a few small tears. You really don’t have the money at the moment to get a brand-new cover but you really need to protect your camper from the weather. The cover you have has been good for several years and you know it has some life left. What do you do?
One alternative to a replacement would be to buy a self-adhesive reinforcement repair kit. The repair kit comes with 3 strips of 3’ long by 9” wide material that is a self-adhesive to cut and place in the areas you need to repair. Made from a durable Tyvek material, you can repair all of your minor tears or small holes and give your camper cover some extended life.
Allowing water to sit and pool on your RV cover can cause a moisture build up that leads to a fungus, eventually causing dry rot. The most common area of water pooling can be on the roof top that already endures harsh sun rays. Identifying and treating moisture and dry rot is important, eventually it can lead to worse problems like wet rot, mold, and severe damage to your cover. Sadly there is no remedy or process to reverse premature aging or dry rot once it has started. But some small areas of dry rot can be reinforced and temporarily repaired with this kit. If you have any larger areas of dry rot that seem to continue throughout your cover or shred your cover, then the best recommendation would be to replace your cover for a new one.
Unfortunately, all good things do come to an end and eventually you will have to replace your camper cover for a new one. When you do purchase your new cover, we recommend you invest in the reinforcement kit to add extra padding and protection to any stress points, giving your new cover the protection it needs for an extended and prolonged life.
